Glass Work
My friend Seunghye Kim said to me once, "Please don't cry over the nature of glass." It runs through my head a lot these days.

This is a collection of various glass projects I've done over the past few years, with varying degrees of frustration and crying.
Puppet Repelling Amulet
December 2021
Flameworked borosilicate glass, sterling silver, bamboo cord.
Meant to ward off unwanted touch and attention from intimidating and overbearing people. We were taught to make this symbol at puppet shows in my hometown if we didn’t want the puppets to come near us.
Pulled In Both Directions

December 2021

Flameworked borosilicate glass.

This piece represents the way that older conservatives simultaneously force sexuality on children, especially those seen as female, and deny them the right to safely and healthily explore it. This figure will eventually live in a church-like box.
Reasons I Can't Sleep at Night
2019

Kiln-cast glass.

This was a project inspired by my own insomnia, but more specifically focused on the ways that unhealthy relationships can take a toll on an individual's physical and emotional health.

Each piece was modeled in wax, cast in glass, and coldworked to fit together.
